Dear White People.....WAKE UP!

I    C a n ' t   W a i t   F o r   T h i s   M o v i e !

I find that often times in our society, especially as of recently, that we share truth behind comedy and hope that the wisdom shines through in the back of people's minds.

Examples of that being The Boondocks and this movie, "Dear White People"
From the few clips I have seen introducing this movie, yes I laugh cause its funny! But it is also the truth!
Revealing topics that need to be hot like the continuous battle between black people trying to be white and white people trying to be black. (this is a problem)

The irony is ridiculous! And our children don't even realize it. And if they do, they don't take it seriously cause they continue with their foolish ways degrading their god given bodies instead of appreciating what they were blessed with.

This past year I have learned the most from Savannah State Professors and Savannah natives, revolutionaries, and educators about our race, reputation and what our nation is doing to us. The United States is slowly killing, reconstructing, reshaping, and mis-educating our people and most of us don't even know it.
The looser parents get the worst it gets. People depending on technology and the media to educate our children instead of doing it themselves.

Where is our oral history?
Who is writing our public school curriculum?
Who is omitting black history?
Why must an individual wait till college to learn that our people were once kings and queens.
IF they choose to take an African history course
and
IF their college of choice even offers such a course!
They wonder why children are disinterested and misbehaving in school.
Have you read the stats for graduating black students?!
Do you know the numbers of black students being held back and being put in remedial behavior problem schools?!!!
Why must they be surprised to know that their beautiful brown skin they hated and hid for years used to be a commonality among our race!
Why do our beautiful young women despise their curls and aspire "blow in the wind blonde hair"
Why is my generation so lazy! (side note, save it for another blog post)

I digress.....
The world used to be small.
We were once all ONE TRIBE.
Why don't our children know that our skin color is not a "race".
Our skin is nearly an adaptation of ultra-violet light (the SUN).
Cause our race is the HUMAN RACE and we were made to adapt.
Why do our children not know that race is a social construct that we can deconstruct if we choose?!
Why do our children not understand the effects of decades of assimilation have done to us?
What it is STILL doing to us?

Open Up,

In 1997 The American Anthropological Association (AAA) recommended that the U.S. government abandon the term "RACE" on official forms because it holds, "...no scientific justification in human biology."

Chew.

Why are black models more successful in a European Market opposed to America?
Did you know France doesn't acknowledge race? Google their demographic stats, you will find no breakdown of races, no way to know how many blacks live here or whites or Asians. Everyone is considered French of various ethnic origins. Done.
Why are we being over charged for products and not fighting against it?
Why don't our children know there are people making money off of their arrest?
Why are we jailing the drug dealers instead of educating them cause there is always another way?
Where is the activist in my generation?
Where is the desire and inspiration to promote positive change?

Savor.

I believe change starts with education.
These same educators who enlightened me teach the minds of a new individual every day.
It just takes one to continue the trend.
Education
Intellect
That's the new sexy

I don't know everything. And there is far more for me to experience, learn, realize and do
But the more I learn the more I think
The more I question things
And that is a powerful thing.

Decades ago the oppressors didn't want slaves to learn how to read or white.....why?
Cause they knew that knowledge was key. They knew with just the bare basics of reading and writing they would LEARN that they had the CAPABILITY to rise up from their current status. They might learn the truth of their worth and find fault in the system.

Swallow.

I pray that my generation and the ones to follow learn to read and write.
I pray that the learning of those fundamentals inspire them to teach their friends and their children.
I pray that if anyone ever tells them to put down that book or drop that pen, that they may rise up with the strength of God behind them and be granted the courage to not let that be so.

Times are changing and NOT all for the bad.
That technology we have...that thing called the internet holds many lies but also many truths.
Be inquisitive. Don't believe what you hear, don't believe me, discover validation for yourself on the web in a book. The internet puts millions of resources from the globe in one place on our computer screens.

One day my art will teach the masses. No meaningless  nor absent minded art. Aesthetics being only the cherry on top I believe God has a greater use and message for my creative talents to share with the world.

Bookmark.

I encourage you to learn.

I Deserve this S.M.I.L.E.

I deserve this smile
And it's effortless nature,
I deserve this warming sensation.

The feeling of satisfaction,
Described
Beyond word's education

Leaves me,
Never exhausted,
But rejuvenated
Hourly
Daily
Spiritually and emotionally.

My heart freaks out
And Melts inside.

I deserve this smile
And it's effortless nature,
I deserve this tingling sensation.

Not in the least
Do I exalt my pride,
For I am humbled by conversation
And the understanding prescribed.

I'm not sick.
I'm whole,
God by my side...
Damn it I deserve this smile
I dare not let it hide.

This smile is a blessing.
My gift from above
I'm grateful,
For its my testimony,
My statement about love.

Love taught by God,
Transcended from me to you

Left and Right,
And even you too.
This smile is here
Cause God is using you.

I deserve this smile.
And it's effortless nature,
I deserve this exchange
embrace
and teaching of affection.

Mind of Jonas: Relationships vs. Dating

My Jonas is My Graphic Designer.
My graphic designer's name is Jonas.
We are both very career driven and helps in many aspects of my life beyond my graphic and web design needs.

Anyway Jonas comes up in my blog today because of the conversation we had today.
The information was so vital I felt it should be shared.

There is a huge difference between DATING and Being in a RELATIONSHIP.
This difference I didn't see until later in my young years (cough cough now lol)
Our definition of "dating" is as follows:
DATING - exclusively learning about one person of interest in hopes of it growing into a committed relationship.

According to the mind of Jonas, when you meet someone a vital decision is made, do I want to be friends with this person or do I want a relationship with them.
If you pursue someone with romantic intentions, your "dating" period is in hopes of a meaningful relationship. If things don't work out essentially that person is usually pushed to the side, they disappear.
If you pursue a regular friendship with someone, they could do something u don't care for but it doesn't matter cause they are just a friend so you gonna let them do them and not let it bother you. Only exception is if you become best friends with someone and it grows into something intimate.

Why am I sharing this information...idk. It's not as random as it seems, but I'm not in a position to share where I'm at right now in relation to all the information I just shared.

I will share this quote that his influenced me this week from a book I'm reading called "The Shack"

"I suppose that since most our hurts come from through relationships so will our healing, and I know that grace rarely makes sense for those looking in from the outside."

Jonas and I agree that too often, women especially, become single and get in this zone and mindset of super independence, forget men, I'ma do me, I don't need no man attitude. And that's nice for a moment, but when you've grown in a relationship and when you've experienced something beautiful you can't deny the idea of love and the beauty of being committed to another person, having a companion, someone to care for and share affection with. It's a wonderful thing.

I'm a relationship orientated person. I can't hoe around and text tons of men ... its just not me, out of my character. I also DON'T fall quickly, but I do go where my spirit leads me. If I'm happy I'm gonna continue the path and see where it takes me proceeding with caution.
The point ladies and gentlemen is to do what makes you happy!
Genuinely happy!
Ignore physical pleasure and think does this person I'm interested make me happy?
When they are around do I feel better or do I want them gone?
When we talk do I enjoy conversation or do I want them to shut up?
Those are the things that should make you happy first (in my opinion) then the other things just fall into place. It's the little things that matter cause they are the beginning and the end of it all.
I'm big on being genuinely happy, and if I'm not I won't waste my time or yours.
Everyone deserves that much, to be honestly and purely happy.
And praying about it doesn't hurt either. (gotta stay connected with the man upstairs)
Ask, and God will provide people in your life who will uplift you.
No one enters your life by accident or for no reason at all.

I called for help

I called for help because I knew I couldn't do it alone.
I need prayer, so I called for help.

The devil tried to get me this evening.
The devil tried to overcome my spirit with sadness, depression, and lonliness.
But it will not be so because the blood of Christ still works and is covering me.

I tried to deal with the weight of the devil alone and I needed help.
I needed help so I called for help.
I called on my spiritual mother to enter battle with me
She refused to let the devil win
And she refused to let the devil use him as a vessel to get to me.

I'm going to bed early and alone and single.
And I'm unashamed.
God is blessing me and covering over my life.
I'm not going to let anyone or anything get in the way of the promise God has over my life.
It's not easy, no not at all
But I trust you God.
You'll never fail me.
A million others will fall short
But my God the places I know you will take me
I know are far greater.

Admist any pain I may experience I know you are in control...
Ignore my tears for they come from my flesh
Ignore my expression for it's only on the outside.
Hear my heart and I sing monologues of your truth and wisdom.
Father God I love you.
I thank you for never leaving my side
Comfort me father

Tonight
and Forever more

I know your reading

I know you're reading this cause you know this is where i go to vent, you know if I'm feeling a certain way it'll end up right here on this page.
I'm on the road now and can't stop thinking about God and you.

I'm was getting ready to leave my parents house in Florida and i go in my room to find some poetry from middle school...
Instead what do i find first a little zales bag with an empty ring box (symbolic isn't it)  as well as notes and poems i wrote to you before we starting dating and the earlier months of our relationship...
Damn! Is all i can say! Like boy did God allow me and bless me with a time and place and person to learn to love and be love. I was blessed with the feeling of completion and driven purpose to be a vessel of God and experience quite a love...

I feel like i got a divorce. And now i have to deal with being patient and doing what's right in the eyes of God every day. Now in forced to consider that we are divorced because God has some one else specially designed for me...

How awful am i to still wish that person to be you? Am i a fool, foolishly hung up in a love that isn't even there. That's what gets me the most, that's what makes me a fool for you.. The fact that i love someone that doesn't love me. I warned you when you asked me to write you something deep. I warned you in every poetic love letter that left you warm inside. I love hard and my love is faithful and now alone I've translated that love to the attention of my Lord and Savior all is well at least it will be once i handle being patient better.

I'm a mess under control.
I'm full of waves crashing against a Levy.
I've wanted to text you, to call you, and see you
All i keep doing is thinking about where and what's going on with you
Then i have to arrest my mind and mentally lock you away just to relieve  the pressure from my chest and to stop the turning in my stomach.

Thinking about you jacks me up cause we had so much. Bash it all you want at the end of the day it was beautiful, genuine, wholesome honest love.

Don't worry any one else but you. I pray you find yourself. Once you Connect your heart, spirit, and body then identity and esteem will be balanced and present in your life.

God give me strength, take this heart ache off my chest. Draw me nearer Lord. Order my steps to live the life you want me to lead. Provide me the tools and the knowledge to be a vessel and an example. I need help God, i desire to be patient and obedient with the help of your strength. Hear my call God...
in your name i pray, Amen.
